BOOK A CLEANERCleaners Shepherd's Bush is firmly committed to conducting all aspects of our business ethically, responsibly, and in full respect of human rights. This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps we take to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. It applies to all staff, contractors, and suppliers engaged in providing cleaning and related services on our behalf.
Modern slavery includes slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, child labour, and human trafficking. We recognise that these abuses can occur in any sector or country and remain vigilant to the risks associated with cleaning, facilities services, and related supply chains.
We maintain a strict zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery and human trafficking. Any form of exploitation is fundamentally incompatible with our values and business practices. We are committed to acting with integrity and transparency and expect the same high standards from everyone we work with.
All staff, including temporary workers and contractors, are required to comply with this policy as a condition of working with Cleaners Shepherd's Bush. We also require our suppliers to adopt and uphold equivalent standards and to ensure that modern slavery does not occur within their own operations or their wider supply chains.
Our supply chains primarily include providers of cleaning materials and equipment, subcontracted cleaning services, recruitment and staffing organisations, and facility management partners. We assess the risk of modern slavery across these activities and focus our efforts on areas with higher potential vulnerability, such as temporary labour and outsourced services.
We expect suppliers to provide safe working conditions, respect employment rights, and ensure that all workers are engaged voluntarily and are free to leave their employment. Suppliers are required to comply with all relevant labour and human rights legislation applicable to their operations.
We conduct due diligence on new suppliers and review existing suppliers on a periodic basis. This may include requesting written confirmation of compliance with anti-slavery legislation, seeking evidence of policies and procedures on labour standards and human rights, and assessing recruitment practices, use of labour agencies, and working conditions for staff engaged in cleaning services.
Where appropriate, we carry out audits or site visits to verify compliance. If concerns are identified, we will work with the supplier to implement corrective actions within a defined timeframe. Where a supplier is unwilling or unable to meet our standards, we reserve the right to terminate the relationship.
We actively encourage staff, contractors, and suppliers to report any concerns or suspicions of modern slavery at the earliest opportunity. Individuals may raise concerns with their line manager, a senior manager, or through an internal whistleblowing route made available within the business.
Reports can be made confidentially, and we will not tolerate any form of victimisation against anyone who raises an issue in good faith. All reports of potential modern slavery are treated seriously, investigated promptly, and, where appropriate, escalated to external authorities or specialist organisations.
Managers responsible for procurement, recruitment, and supplier relationships receive guidance on identifying and managing modern slavery risks. We promote awareness among staff about the signs of exploitation, such as withholding of wages or documents, excessive working hours, and restrictions on freedom of movement.
Responsibility for implementing this statement rests with the senior management team. They are accountable for ensuring that appropriate resources and controls are in place to support this commitment throughout the organisation.
We are committed to reviewing and improving our approach to tackling modern slavery. This statement, along with our related procedures, is reviewed annually to reflect changes in legislation, guidance, and business activities. The review considers any incidents reported, the effectiveness of our supplier audits, and opportunities for stronger controls or training.
Following each annual review, we may update our processes, strengthen our supplier requirements, and enhance training materials. By maintaining this cycle of monitoring and improvement, Cleaners Shepherd's Bush aims to minimise the risk of modern slavery in our business and to support more ethical practices across the cleaning sector.
This Modern Slavery Statement has been approved by the leadership of Cleaners Shepherd's Bush and is made available to our staff, suppliers, and clients to demonstrate our ongoing commitment to protecting human rights and preventing exploitation.
